The most common location to install the 8100 within your vehicle is high in the dashboard between the driver and passenger.  This avoids the steering column and wiring harness on the driver side as well as the airbag assembly on the passenger side.  It is recommended to place the device as high under the dash as possible making sure there is no metal above the unit.  It is also best to have the device placed with the magnets pointing down.  Since the 8100 has an internal antenna, there is no need to run additional wires.

1. Prior to installing the device, recycle the power (if already on) or turn on the power and place the unit outside with a clear view of the sky so it can receive a signal.
2. Connect the wiring harness to a CONTINUOUS POWER source.  Be sure power is flowing to the connector with the ignition off.  This harness is color coded; red = positive, black = negative.  The wiring harness includes a connector to connect to the 8100 so the harness can be connected first without the need of the device.
3. Once the wiring harness is successfully installed, simply connect the 8100 device to the connector on the back of the unit and secure its location.  It is not necessary to recycle the power.  It is recommended to retrieve the unit from the time it was turned on and leave it on when connecting the device.
4. Installation is now complete.
