When choosing a GPS-based vehicle tracking system, there’s always a tradeoff between portability and power.
Most consumers want a vehicle tracking device that is easily placed, easily moved and easily hidden. They also want frequent and accurate vehicle position updates, in real time.
The Victoria Tracking System offers true, real-time vehicle tracking, with 10-second position updates. It is about the size of a deck of cards and has the flexibility to run off batteries or the vehicle’s power. This vehicle tracking device involves only a monthly subscriber cost of $39.95.
Frequent location updates require a lot of power, and can quickly deplete batteries. Some vehicle tracking manufacturers solve the problem by making products that stretch GPS recording intervals to minutes, instead of seconds. Users get a “breadcrumb” trail and are forced to play “Connect the Dots” when they try to monitor a vehicle’s travels.
The Victoria Tracking System receiver is programmed to update every 10 seconds, if it is traveling at least 10 miles per hour. If the device is moving less than 10 miles an hour, the Victoria Tracking System switches to distance mode and will record GPS coordinates every 20 feet. This second feature allows the Victoria Tracking System to go from vehicle tracking device to personal tracker. Cyclists or runners, for example, could bring the unit along on their workouts.
The Victoria Tracking System takes its name and inspiration in part, from Victoria, the first ship to circumnavigate the globe. It was the only one of five sailing ships in the fleet to survive the Spanish expedition, from 1519 to 1522. Explorer Ferdinand Magellan, who led the trip, was killed during the voyage. Victoria represents endurance and perseverance under challenging circumstances.

The new vehicle tracking system is complete with a lithium-ion battery. It will run for about eight to ten hours on a single battery charge, although the time varies by how much the vehicle is driven daily. The device is equipped with a motion sensor that puts the device in a low powered sleep mode when not in use. Once movement resumes, the device will reacquire and start tracking again.
Recharging the battery is a breeze, because it can be plugged into a standard wall plug or a USB port. Cables are included.
An extended battery is available at an additional cost. The vehicle tracking unit will run 10 times as long on its charge: up to 100 hours. Optional power sources include a cigarette lighter adapter, extended battery kit, and a 12V to USB converter kit (permanent installations).
Dimensions of the Victoria vehicle tracking device are approximately 4” long, 2 ¼” wide, and 1”deep, similar in size to a deck of cards. The design is slim, with a plain black housing and powerful internal antenna. A clip allows the vehicle tracking unit to be attached to a purse, waistband, sun visor or pocket.
If the vehicle tracking device is to be placed outside a vehicle, especially if the intent is underneath, attached to the metal frame, it must be protected from water damage. The Victoria Tracking System is not waterproof. A watertight case with magnet has been designed for this specific purpose. It can be purchased as an accessory.
The best placement for any GPS tracking device is where it has a clear view of the sky, unobstructed by metal. With a vehicle tracking device, this usually is near the front or back window. The same holds true of the Victoria Tracking System.
The chip imbedded inside the Victoria Tracking System is quite sophisticated, so users might find it is more sensitive and more accurate than other vehicle tracking devices. If placed under the vehicle (a waterproof case is recommended) it will capture GPS signals reflected off the ground. Although customers have reported that our vehicle tracking devices have worked quite well inside the trunk of a passenger vehicle. If this is the location of choice, we recommend testing it to ensure proper operation.
