Dead on the Side of the Road – Why You Need GPS Tracking
Cell Phones Might Not Help You
Better to Have Two Sources of Help
The news about vehicle ownership is that people are keeping their vehicles longer than they ever have because of financial issues. This means more miles on vehicles that would have otherwise been traded or sold. More vehicles with over 100,000 miles are using streets and roads in our communities.
It is no longer uncommon to see cars and trucks broken down at the side of the road awaiting a tow. Think of the safety issues that this poses to the drivers and occupants of these vehicles as well as the other cars travelling the road.
Most people have mobile phones with which they can make emergency calls to get help. Even if they do not, other ‘good Samaritan’ drivers gladly lend theirs so that a call can be made. That, too, has its danger.
Cell Phone Problems
There are several reasons that having just a cell phone isn’t good enough. First, cell phones are prone to losing power from a low battery. Look at your cell phone now. Chances are that it could use a charge. Even though lithium ion batteries are used in most mobile devices, those batteries only hold a charge for so long. If you do not have a battery charger in your vehicle, you could be left in a tight spot.
The other problem with cell phones is signal availability. Depending on which carrier you choose, your signal strength varies by geographic area. Drive through your city, town or regional area and chances are high that if you leave them and the major streets and roads, you will find a low and disappearing signal. That’s not good if you get into trouble.
Get GPS Tracking
GPS Tracking devices are able to fill the gap here should a problem exist with a cell phone. Elbowing its way into significance, these units have a specific function that makes them a necessity along side of the venerable cell phone.
Here’s why it makes sense to add a GPS Tracking device to your vehicle:
Instant location. Using a simple PC with an Internet connection, you can track the location of your vehicle to within a few feet of its actual location. Then, you can relay this information to police or other emergency authorities if needed. Or, you can travel to that location to affect a repair on the car or have it towed to the service center of your choice.
GPS Tracking devices are low in cost, but high in delivering safety. Don’t wait, get one today.
