GPS Tracking Grows in Application and Influence in 2010

Ever Expanding Uses

Safety and Profitability Goes Up

It is sure to be a watershed year for GPS Tracking in 2010.  This is true because of the already incredible ways that it has been put to use.  Even more ways are being explored for tracking that both improves and helps keep our society safer.

The central concepts of recovery, verification and safety are at the forefront of reasons to implement GPS Tracking.  Here are some of the ways that we are already experiencing positive effects from these devices.

Government / Judicial

Under this category are two main concepts:  monitoring in criminal cases and for location of assets.  More uses in the area of criminal verification of activities and monitoring are being adopted.  Now, not only are those who are being watched under house arrest because of lesser criminal convictions, but sexual predators are being monitored more frequently.  And, another new method is in issuing a tracking monitor for victims of sexual and violent crimes so that they can be made aware of a convict’s location.

Many municipalities are starting to use GPS Tracking in their vehicles to verify activities and location.  Municipal employees are being held to employment rules and regulations as they use vehicles and equipment in their work.  This helps reduce expenses and keeps productivity at a high level.

Business / Productivity and Profitability

The very small investment into a GPS Tracking system allows businesses to monitor assets and drivers in a very close manner.  In fact, the only better way to perform such monitoring would be in placing a supervisor in each vehicle that a company owns.  That is highly cost prohibitive and impractical.  But, tracking devices provide the kind of data that is needed to make sure that business activities are verified and that company rules and mandates are being followed to the letter.  This produces a stronger environment for customer satisfaction which improves profitability.

Family / Personal

The need to monitor activities and movements of those who are at a disadvantage when it comes to keeping themselves safe is greater than ever.  Monitoring of teens, children and even older family members is becoming more common.  Teens are being watched as they move through their day – especially when it comes to driving.  Children are monitored via small, hidden trackers in their clothing or items that they carry.  The same is true for those older family members who might be experiencing issues with dementia and other related maladies.

While concerns over privacy are being raised the positive effects of monitoring are out-weighing them.  That might change in the future, but for now GPS Tracking is being implemented in greater ways to the benefit of society as a whole.
