System Provides Multiple Purposes

Safety, Communications and Monitoring Made Easy

It used to be that when one went on a vacation abroad, communications were few and far between.  Now that has all changed with the advent of the cell phone.  Additionally, once a person experiences travel with wireless communications, it seems like less of a trip since constant contact can be kept with those left behind.

There is a program, however, that is making the best use of GPS Tracking and communications options for students who take part in their global travel experiences.  The People to People Ambassador Programs is in charge of the system and uses it in important ways.

Keeping Track of the Program

The programs are designed to give students a wide range of experiences in other cultures and locations.  Because of the inherent dangers that exist in such programs, the addition of GPS devices makes a lot of sense.

Key features of the system include:

GPS enabled cell phone for the instructor in each group.  This not only allows the instructor to keep in touch with the company on the progress of the trip, but also allows them to have instant access to parents and guardians if necessary. (more…)

One of the Best Features of GPS Tracking

Systems are Customer Service Focused

This is a fit made in heaven, it would seem: the marriage of GPS Tracking with Public Transportation systems in the form of Buses.  While other systems try to use GPS Tracking to help make a better customer service experience, bus systems trump them all.  Here are the reasons why:

Are You Late or is The Bus Late?

The Need is Real.  Trying to catch buses on schedule can be a nightmare.  Just ask college students who do not have a vehicle or cannot drive theirs on campus for classes.  Mix in their penchant for being late and you will soon see the need for a system that allows instant interactivity with buses and their schedules.  Now, translate that to the many bus systems that operate in large cities around the world.  The need for better service has been the cry on the lips of riders everywhere.  So, there is no doubt that this was a real need and that it would be well accepted. GPS Tracking Assists in Monitoring Climate Changes

Wildlife Tracking Helps Discover Adaptability

Source acquired via IWCP, June 11, 2010, Compton Bay, England – Climate change affects all kinds of creatures including the Glanville fritillary – a rare and sensitive butterfly that lives on the Isle of Wight. Recently graduated Masters student, Sarah Duddigan, is helping to find out how these delicate creatures adapt to climate change with the assistance of a GPS tracking device.

Gathering Data

Duddigan’s main job is to mark each butterfly that she captures. Using a non-toxic pen, she marks each butterfly. Then, using a GPS tracking device, she logs the location of each butterfly found. Following this initial research, Duddigan will then re-capture each butterfly in order to find out whether or not the creatures have moved locations due to climate change. This project is sponsored by the Isle of Wight Natural History and Society. (more…)

Child Molester Escapes Because Monitoring Bracelet Doesn’t Have GPS Tracking

It took a Great Escape to prove to folks in Australia that a criminal’s natural urge to flee justice is maybe a bit stronger than his right to privacy.

A convicted child molester has escaped an extended supervised stay facility near Melbourne. Red-faced police authorities admit that, while the criminal was fitted with an electronic monitoring bracelet as a stipulation of his probation, they do not know where he has gone. That’s because the bracelet was equipped with a simple electronic warning system and not the latest GPS tracking technology. (more…)

How GPS Tracking Helps Corporations

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Five years ago, if someone had declared that he knew the precise location of a remote vehicle and could tell where it was moving, second by second, that individual probably would have been labeled either a hoax, or a supernatural talent.

With changing times, the seemingly impossible is now possible. GPS tracking systems have become very well accepted among business owners and managers. They have become an invaluable tool in the corporate world because they uncover wasteful habits and activities, and increase productivity and profits. (more…)
