LandAirSea Tracks Young NASCAR Superstar as he Conquers the Southeast Circuit

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

When many young children experience the United States’ highway system for the first time, they are thrilled at the prospect of being able to legally drive as fast as 75 miles per hour for extremely long stretches without the need to stop. The need for speed is inherent in many young American children, and they all fulfill this desire to push the limits in different ways and to different degrees. While many youngsters are content in riding their bike down a long and steep hill or making frequent trips to their local amusement parks to ride the roller coasters over and over again, others have higher hopes of satiating their need for speed. Cory Vincent Joyce without a doubt falls into the latter category, and this up-and-coming young racing professional is making all the right moves on his path to NASCAR stardom, including equipping his racing fleet with LandAirSea’s SilverCloud GPS tracking system to let his fans follow his journey in real time.

Born in 1992 in Gilford, New Hampshire, Cory Joyce began his racing career at eight years old when he received a go kart for Christmas from his parent. Over the next few years, Joyce was relentless on the go kart track, and eventually won the title of WKA National Pavement Series Champion at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in 2007. Early in 2008, Joyce finally acquired his first NASCAR late model stock car and embarked on his path toward a full-time NASCAR professional racer. After winning the Rookie of the Year title in the Limited Late Model Division in 2009, sponsorship and fan accolade rose immensely, and it was around this time that fans began to gain an interest in where Joyce is practicing and racing. While passive GPS tracking devices can allow fans and racers to relive the race and analyze driving patterns to better plan for future events, the recent release of LandAirSea’s SilverCloud real time GPS tracking system provides constant updates to fans and sponsors wanting to know where they can find their favorite young NASCAR up-and-comer. As posted on Joyce’s website, below is the real-time tracking interface provided by LandAirSea’s SilverCloud:

While GPS tracking technology in the stock car racing realm was once reserved for only the top professionals looking to make a significant financial investment in racing analytic technology, today the affordability and user-friendly interface allows systems such as LandAirSea’s SilverCloud to be utilized by both amateurs and professionals in a vast array of professional sports. As Cory Joyce continues on his track of success in the 2011 season, fans can follow along his exciting journey with the simple click of the mouse.

LandAirSea Tracks the Patriot Flag’s Inspirational Cross-Country Journey

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

On September 11, 2001, al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners, crashing two into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon, and a fourth into an open field after passengers on board attempted to take back control.  This tragic event will forever be known as one of the truest tests of Americans’ patriotism and resilience to any threats to personal and national freedom.  Nearly 3,000 victims and all 19 hijackers died in the attacks, but the number of aftermath casualties would have undoubtedly been much greater had it not been for the efforts of New York City firefighters and law enforcement departments that wasted no time in getting to Ground Zero and helping countless trapped civilians emerge from the rubble and debris.  With the 10-year anniversary of this tragedy approaching in a few short months, project coordinators of the nonprofit organization World Memorial are ensuring that Americans never forget the dedication that our nation’s law enforcement gave in response to the attacks by touring the Patriot Flag across all 50 states.  By utilizing LandAirSea’s GPS tracking systems, civilians will always know where this beacon of American nationalism and remembrance is headed next.

The purpose of the Patriot Flag is to traverse all 50 states in 50 weeks, serving as a tribute to the armed forces, first responders, second responders, the 9/11 families and the fallen of the attacks.  The actions of those fallen law enforcement officers continue to inspire millions across the nation, and many hope to see the patriotic icon that is the Patriot Flag in person before its journey is completed in October of this year.  The Patriot Flag began its life in Escondido, California on March 3rd, 2010, where it flew for 8 months before being donated to the World Memorial.  As a tribute to those who were responsible for the flag’s inception, this is where the Patriot Flag is set to retire after its 50-state tour.  By referencing LandAirSea’s SilverCloud GPS tracking interface through the Patriot Flag’s website, one can easily track its current location and see its historical journey; as of June 12, 2011, the flag has traveled through 127 cities in 39 states.  Although anyone interested in viewing the current location of the Patriot Flag can access LandAirSea’s GPS tracking data transmission through the World Memorial’s Patriot Flag site, due to its user-friendly data sharing system it can also be integrated into any blog or news article:

To hear more about the story behind the Patriot Flag and those responsible for its journey, check out CBS News’s recent cover story.  Although our nation’s law enforcement officers should be honored every day for their relentless devotion to ensuring our freedom, programs such as the Patriot Flag tour show that we will never forget those times in history where their services have proven extraordinarily invaluable.

Enterprising Shipping Entities Realize the Benefits

Recovering from Theft that Runs in the Millions of Dollars

A change is taking place in the cargo shipping industry.  This change is for the betterment of the business segment and will help keep them profitable for years to come.  The focus of this change comes in the form of GPS Tracking systems that are being implemented world-wide.

Further proof of this change is realized from stories of businesses that provide tracking to those that move freight on a daily basis.  Faced with pressures to reduce cargo theft and improve service these alliances are proving quite formidable in monitoring and following up on the theft of product.

GPS Tracking for Short or Long Runs

These efforts have made GPS Tracking a must-have for cargo transporting whether across the country or from continent to continent.  The main thrust of these systems is the ability to monitor shipments as they traverse the globe in real-time.

Then, the ability to react quickly to attempts to steal the cargo has helped minimize losses while protecting profitability.  Here’s how it works:

GPS Tracking Devices Deployed.  As shipments are prepared for movement from one location to another, they are outfitted with GPS Tracking devices.  These are hidden among the goods and are then activated for real-time tracking. (more…)

GPS Tracking to help efficiency in North Providence

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Providence morningGPS Tracking

Mayor Lombardi of New Providence, Rhode Island recently passed local legislation that resulted in 14 of the local city public works vehicles being installed with GPS tracking systems. The small town of North Providence is approximately 5 square miles large, but it is taking a giant leap into the new age of technology. Due to unknown reasons, New Providence reduced the number of their dump truck employees from 30 workers to 23 workers. Lombardi believes implementing GPS tracking systems will increase overall management and planning and the end result will allow the city to get the job done with the existing 23 employees by making them more productive and efficient. Lombardi believes the GPS tracking systems will validate his claim that the job can be accomplished with less people.

Real-Time Tracking

Glenn Corrente, a Public Works Director for Providence, stated that the GPS tracking systems are an excellent way for management to mobilize and route trucks in the field because the supervisors are able to see exactly where an employee is, how long they have been there, and other vital data all from a computer  screen. Although each vehicle tracking system requires a monthly service fee of approximately $25 per month, over time the city feels money will be saved and that GPS tracking will improve the public services.

Not Without Controversy

The GPS tracking solution for the city of Providence is not without controversy. A leader for the worker’s union, John C DeAngelis, does not believe the GPS tracking systems will automatically result in greater efficiency at a more cost-effective rate, and feels the city workers are already doing an excellent job. DeAngelis also suggested that if the city feels GPS tracking is necessary for the city dump trucks and other public works vehicles then the initiative should be universal to all city vehicles, including the mayor’s vehicle and Chief of Police’s city vehicle.

Opinion

Should the city of Providence have released 7 workers from duty and replace them with GPS tracking systems? If the dump trucks and some other public works trucks will be monitored via GPS tracking should the mayor and Police Chief also be required to have vehicle tracking systems installed to their vehicles? Should the public be able to monitor the data?

Real-Time GPS Tracking

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Real-time GPS Tracking units incorporate a method to transmit the GPS information from the vehicle.  Although satellite uplink of data is available, cellular data communications is the most common and cost effective.   Automatic incremental updating provides a continuous source of tracking throughout a recording period.  This provides for current as well as historical logging positions.  The frequency of these updates depends upon the manufacturer’s design capabilities as well as the data plans the customer has chosen.  Customers utilizing real-time GPS Tracking solutions range from consumers, fleet managers, small to large business owners with mobile assets and employees, and government agencies.

Monday, February 25th, 2008

GPS tracking system 8100 is a real-time GPS tracking system that incorporates the latest in GPS tracking and wireless technology to accurately determine the exact location of a vehicle.  The GPS tracking system 8100 can be used as a portable device operating on an internal lithium battery pack or it can be connected directly to the vehicle’s 12 volt power supply.

The LandAirSea 8100 hardware and software was designed to be used for both single unit portable applications or large fleet management installations.

8100-11.jpgThe 8100 can be set to update it’s location from every second or up to 30 minutes and anywhere in between.

Battery life depends on how much the vehicle is in motion and how often you want the unit to update the location.  On a full battery charge, the unit should last at least one week with average driving with the unit set to give you 5 minute updates.  With one second updates, expect about 4 to 5 days of tracking before you need to charge the battery.
