A “Ticking Time Bomb”
The world is becoming more and more connected each and every single day, and each of us who live and work and interact in this digitized world give little bits of ourselves away. With social media applications such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Tumblr, individual and corporate data that at one point in time was considered highly personal and classified, has now been made readily accessible to the general public with a click of a mouse.
At the turn of the millennium, the term “server” still referred to the person who brings the food to your table at a restaurant, but now it encompasses a completely different meaning altogether. Today, a server refers to a computing program that allows users to store electronic data, such as emails, Google searches, banking records, phone conversations, text messages, pictures, personal information, etc.

“How’s My Driving?”
At some point or another, we’ve all been a victim of one of those commercial service vehicles with the bumper sticker that reads, “How’s My Driving?”
Normally we don’t pay too much attention to the driving behaviors of these commercial vehicles until we get stuck behind one of them, usually in a one-lane stretch of road. We want to punch the gas pedal and pass them up, but we often don’t because of the insistent fear that we’ll end up in a head-on collision with an oncoming car on the opposite side of traffic… or because our cars don’t have the horsepower to do so.

Regina Cab Drivers Need GPS Technology
According to a statistical report, taxi cab drivers were rated as one of the most dangerous jobs in Canada. It shouldn’t come as a surprise since the nature of the job requires taxi drivers to pick up and drop off complete strangers all throughout the day for 8-12 hours straight. In August of 2009, Jose Pena-Seguira, a New York City cab driver, was fatally shot in the head.
However, this hasn’t stopped Ayyaz Destdar from doing his job. For 20 years Ayyaz has worked in large cities such as New York, Toronto and Edmonton. He recently moved to Regina, which is the capital city of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, a few months ago and was surprised when he discovered how far behind the city was in the development and implementation of safety measures for taxi drivers.

Stolen Taxicab Tracked in Denver
A man was arrested in Denver, CO this past Wednesday after law enforcement officials said he stole a taxi, robbed a convenience store and then led police officers on a chase that ended when he crashed the cab into a tree in the Civic Center Park.
According to a local police report, the suspect stole an orange Union Taxi mini-van and then drove it to a Diamond Shamrock at around 1 a.m.
After robbing the convenience store, the suspect took off again in the stolen cab. The taxi was equipped with a GPS tracking device, which allowed police to track the precise location of the vehicle. The suspect led officers on a late-night chase, which ended with the cab going off the street and onto a sidewalk, where he then smashed in to a tree near downtown Denver.

An Age Old Rivalry
Ohio State vs. Michigan, Texas vs. Oklahoma, the Green Bay Packers vs. the Chicago Bears and the list goes on and on. There’s just something magical about being a part of an age old rivalry. It brings an extra element of passion and enthusiasm for one’s team, that at times, borders on the edge of insanity. A fair-weather fan will instantly transform into a completely ravenous cheerleader when their beloved home team plays against their old arch rivals. Stadiums and arenas that are normally half-empty will fill up to capacity when their rivals come into town.
And one of the oldest rivalries just happens to be between New York City and the City of Chicago. These two cities have been locked in battle for decades with each one trying to outdo the other – from skyscrapers to pizza, and most recently the pride associated with the city’s ability to plow snow.

‘Tis the Season…
Christmas is only a few days away. The streets are lined with gigantic inflatable Santa Clauses and snowmen, all plastered and painted with colorful signs that read, “BIG SALE.” The malls and department stores are bustling with hordes of shoppers, scrambling for last minute sales and bargains. The roads are more congested with holiday traffic, and the brutal winter weather doesn’t make driving any easier. As the saying goes, “‘Tis the season…”
And yet in the midst of all the busyness of the season, at the heart of it all, Christmas is really a time of giving. It’s the time of the year for giving and receiving. For many people, this is the most wonderful time of the year… or at least it’s suppose to be.

High-Tech Cyber-Stalking in 2003
We recently discovered that one of LandAirSea’s GPS tracking devices was featured on NBC’s Today Show on February 2003. The story involved a man by the name of Paul Seidler, who used a GPS tacker to secretly monitor her ex-girlfriend, Connie Adams.
For weeks, when Connie Adams drove her car she knew it wouldn’t be long before her ex-boyfriend showed up. He’d pop up when she was on dates. He’d be outside the cafe where she went for her morning cup of coffee before work. He’d track her down at restaurants she had never visited before.

Where Did My Shopping Cart Go?
According to a report from AFP (Agence France-Presse), Spanish police in Madrid caught a man who stole thousands of supermarket trolleys (or shopping carts as they are called in the U.S.) by tracking him with GPS tracking devices, which were hidden on several of the carts.
The 37-year-old man is thought to have stolen 290,000 euros’ (or $390,000) worth of trolleys, which he then sold as scrap metal, according to a statement made by Madrid police. The police department covertly attached the GPS tracking devices to the trolleys after being alerted by several supermarkets in the city, which reported losing more than 3,000 trolleys this year.
