Recently, Red Ball Internet (a Moncton-based broadband provider) has come up with advanced software that will make tracking Moncton’s city buses easier.

The software will allow commuters to track the location of a city bus and find out how far away a bus is all from a home computer or cell phone device. While similar software exists, Red Ball’s software tracks buses in real time – something that is entirely unique. Not only will this software make tracking buses easier for commuters, but transport officials and drivers will be better equipped to keep track of various city buses through the course of one day. The software, called proTextor, was invented to prevent teens from sending or receiving texts and phone calls while driving. Using a GPS tracking device, proTextor detects when a vehicle is in motion, and automatically blocks all incoming and outgoing texts and calls. (more…)

This version update provides changes specific to reporting capabilities. In the “Setup” tab, you can now modify the frequency of positions that appear on the daily/weekly driving and daily/weekly text reports. Users can identify updated positions between 10 and 300 seconds. The previous versions of the UT Wireless software provided 300 second (5 minute) positions as standard. This will provide additional value to those tracking faster than 5 minute updating. Once downloaded, all historical reports can be recreated with this update
