Frequently Asked Questions

Why do we say our devices are 'water resistant' and not 'waterproof'?

The LandAirSea line of GPS tracking products includes perimeter o-rings to provide additional water-resistant qualities. Although this provides added protection, this does not provide waterproofing.  Customers wanting to mount these devices outside in the elements should take additional care to protect the device.  This can be done with a thin plastic sandwich bag or a more elaborate solution such as a waterproof case (i.e. Pelican or Otter case – provided by others).  The 8100 was designed for operation inside the dash of a vehicle.  However, this device includes the same quality GPS technology as its LandAirSea passive counterparts.  Therefore, it has become an effective portable device.  This unit has no water protection whatsoever and the customer will need to take every precaution to protect it from moisture.

Also, you need to make sure you attach the device to a solid steel surface. Due to unforeseen road hazards, the customer assumes responsibility for lost units as this is not covered under our warranty.
